Master of Ceremonies

For a number of years MyWeddingDisco.comhave offered the Master of Ceremonies service to my wedding customers as an extra add-on that i think enhances your special day.

Many couples i have spoken to in the past have expressed  that the wedding day went by so quickly that they didn’t get time to enjoy the day themselves. It is easy to identify why. They, perhaps, spend so much time in the planning as they want to make sure that everything does go to plan, but they have no one except the venue staff or the best man to ensure that the plan is coming together. Whilst the venue staff will concentrate their efforts only on the catering arrangements, the best man has probably never done this sort of thing before and may well want to enjoy the day himself.

A Master Of Ceremonies will make sure that the plan for the wedding day is executed efficiently and will take this worry away from the bride and groom ensuring that they can fully enjoy their own special day.

Here is an idea of how a Master of Ceremonies can assist you for a typical Wedding.

Meeting with the bride and groom in advance of their big day to establish a full itinerary of the day. These details will be comprehensive and will include timings, venue contacts, bridal party details etc.

  • Arrival at the venue early to set up and meet with the venue staff to ensure that everything is going according to plan and to familiarise myself with the venue.
  • Guests are greeted on arrival (normally before the bride and groom arrive), directed to reception drinks, toilets and maybe unburdened of gifts and cards, if they have them, and elderly relatives and guests maybe shown to a seated area for their comfort.
  • Bride and Groom arrive and when instructed the receiving line is set up consisting of all members of the bridal party. The guests are then directed to the receiving line where they are welcomed by the bridal party and then shown to the table plan to locate their seats for the wedding meal.
  • Bride and Groom are announced into the wedding meal and shown to their seats to thunderous applause.
  • Background music is played during the meal.
  • Speakers are announced in turn and radio mic facilities are used for this.
  • Announcement of cutting of the wedding cake
  • Announce first dance for bride and groom

The above details are not set in stone, more of a guide to what a Master of Ceremonies duties may be. they can, of course. be tailored to your own requirements. A Master of Ceremonies does a very similar job to a toast master’s at a wedding, but MyWeddingDisco.com do not charge as much, and although not permitted to wear the red toastmaster's coat, i feel that the service given is as good, if not better and certainly more personal. Added to which, you get the benefit of background music throughout your special day and mic facilities for clear announcements and for the speeches.

The benefit for me too is that i get to know the audience before i do the evening’s entertainment and the guests tend to better identify with me during the evening as i may have built up a rapport with them during the day. This can all help to create a much better reception party.

As with the cost of DJ’ing at your reception, the cost of providing the Master of Ceremony service is calculated for each job on it’s own merits, and the price is very much time-related. But as i have to set up for the evening anyway, i only charge for the extra time at the venue and this will be at a rate that is cheaper than the actual disco price.

As an idea, the average might be between £100 - £150 for this extra service and this will include meeting with the bride and groom prior to the wedding to establish the full details required.

MyWeddingDisco.com have found this service is always well received, inexpensive and all helps to ensure that you, and your guests, can have a wonderful time whilst the wedding runs as smoothly as possible.

Please give me a call if you would like to further discuss this service.
